From My Rocking Chair…
… on our back porch, we call it ‘the beach,’ the water in the lake looks like a sheet of highly polished glass. Perfect for reflecting the soft pink glow of a late summer sunset. And that’s the problem. I feel awful sitting here in comfort, computer on my lap, chardonnay in my glass, when I know there is so much tragedy along the gulf.
I’m not the guy to restore water and power. I’m not the guy to participate in SAR operations. And you definitely don’t want me too close to power tools since I have trouble enough handling a fork!
The one thing I know to do is talk but even that might help.
For the next 45 days I will speak anywhere, any time, for any fee for non-corporate audiences.
I will speak to Rotary or your church or your quilting club (for expenses only) provided that a donation of any size is made to the Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House, or Habitat for Humanity. So if you have a group that has little budget but generous hearts, now is the time.
For business engagements with future dates, booked before Oct. 31st (deposit received), I will speak at a discount of 25% provided the group sends a check of equal or greater value of the discount to any of the three charities mentioned above.
That’s what I know to do.
